How to measure a mattress

step 1

Remove all bed linen, blankets, and pillows from your mattress for the most accurate measurement. If you use a mattress topper, keep it on your mattress when you do the measuring.

Measure from the left side to the right side of your mattress to get the width using a ruler or tape measure. Some mattresses can curve outward on the sides, so make sure you are measuring from the widest point on each side of the mattress.

step 3

Measure from the back edge to the front edge of your mattress to get the length. If your mattress curves outward at the back and front edges, measure from the furthest point out on each edge.

step 4

Measure from the bottom of the mattress to the top of the mattress to get the depth/height. If you use a mattress topper, make sure you include it in your measurement so that you can get the right depth sheets.
