Planet

Our commitment to creating comfort goes beyond our products – it’s about caring for the planet we all share. At Pillow Talk, we’re dedicated to reducing the impact we have on the planet through initiatives such as the reduction of plastic use and the promotion of sustainable forest management. By implementing innovative solutions and continuously striving for improvement, we are working to create a better future. Find out more about how we’re doing this through our Planet pillar below.

Pillow Talk Headquarters

In 2024, Pillow Talk transitioned to our newly established headquarters, constructed by Hutchinson Builders and designed with sustainability in mind. A "home away from home" for the Pillow Talk team, our new HQ creates an inviting workplace that encourages sustainable practices throughout.

A key factor in the development of our new headquarters, as we advance toward sustainable operations, was the emphasis on enhancing energy efficiency.  As an Australian company based in the sunshine state of Queensland, it was a logical step for us to implement solar panels in our new HQ. Minimising our energy consumption is crucial in our journey towards sustainability, and the implementation of solar panels allows us to not only reduce our reliance on traditional energy resources, but gives us the capacity to offset electric vehicle charging and store power from the grid for night time energy offset and overnight asset charging. In addition to implementing solar power in our headquarters, we have also introduced other energy-conserving initiatives like motion-activated and energy-efficient lighting products.

Reducing our water usage was a key element in the design of our new headquarters. A large rainwater tank was installed to harvest rainwater from the roof to be used for irrigating the plants throughout the premises. Our bathrooms, also feature water-saving devices with sensor taps and low-flush toilets.

To encourage sustainable transport options such as walking and cycling, our new headquarters also features end-of-trip facilities.

Reducing Plastic Use

At Pillow Talk, we recognize the significant impact that reducing plastic use can have on the environment.  We are actively pursuing ways to decrease plastic consumption throughout our operations where feasible.

As part of our ongoing sustainability efforts, we have transitioned from plastic packaging to fabric bags in our bed linen range, providing an eco-friendly alternative that our customers can reuse and repurpose. In our retail stores, we have replaced single-use plastic bags with durable, multi-use options, reflecting our dedication to promoting sustainable practices. We are continuously exploring and moving towards even more sustainable solutions, aiming to further decrease our reliance on plastic and contribute to a healthier planet for future generations.

Responsible Forestry

While the reduction of plastic is an important part of our journey towards sustainability, we know it is important to consider the environmental impact of the alternatives. That is why we are committed to promoting sustainable forest management through our responsible sourcing practices. The boxes we use for our online orders as well as the paper for our catalogues are certified PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification). This certification guarantees that our materials come from responsibly managed forests that provide environmental, social, and economic benefits. By adhering to these stringent standards, we not only reduce our environmental footprint but also support the global effort to preserve and protect forest ecosystems for future generations.
